Nursing Advisory Committee

Article: 1103 - the purpose of this committee is to review and make recommendations relative to those unresolved issues related to workload and staffing. As well as to provide a forum for discussion and make recommendations on issues relative to nursing professional practices, such as nursing standards, nursing functions and layout of facilities.

Automatic inclusion of President and 2 other members of the executive. Worksite issues.

Currently the Nursing Advisory Committee meets at least four times a year. A few examples of on going agenda items are as follows: Injury Near Miss forms, Occurrence Forms, WLSR Forms and how the WRHA needs to follow up on nurses concerns, Accessing the Education Funds, MNU Vacation and Stat Scheduling Guidelines, Protocols for the Equitable Distribution of Overtime, Effective Christmas and Summer Holiday Scheduling and Nursing Resource Coordinators concerns related to payroll and mileage problems, NRC's not knowing the Collective Agreement, not answering their phones, not seeking clarification from their Team Managers.

The employer is responsible for posting the minutes in each decentralized office. All nurses are advised to discuss area concerns with their Worksite executive members.

Regional Nursing Advisory

Includes all Worksite presidents in the Region. Regional issues.

Independent Assessment Committee (IAC)

If any issue remains unsolved the nurse(s) concerned may refer them to this committee. The IAC will be established to investigate and hear evidence relating to the issues and make recommendations to solve those issues.
