Welcome/Introduction of new Executive

¯     Marcya introduced the core executive members to the members at large

Who is following up

PCBC Nominees and Vote

¯     Circulated bios of both nominees who are seeking the support of members for the position of PCBC rep for LTC and Community. Bluma Levine and Dawn Thompson are the persons who have submitted their names. Ballots were handed out to each member present to vote. Dawn requested to speak to members at large. Permission was given. Dawn spoke about the different positions she has held since being a member of Local 97 and the NB of representation of LTC nurses who need a voice to address all their concerns

Mileage information

¯     CAA booklet to keep track of expenses and mileage related to use of vehicle was circulated amongst members.

¯     Marcya explained the rationale for keeping info for 3-6 months as this will provide an accurate record for PCBC at next round of negotiations. Marcya provided an example of a VN who claimed mileage only or made a claim for vehicle expense through personnel income tax. $ back about the same

¯     Request for members to submit their names as volunteers. All names would be entered into a draw for a $100.00 gift basket and smaller secondary gifts certificates

¯     T2200 form will not be authorized by WRHA as the $ received is tax free for reimbursement for mileage claim. Making a claim for vehicle expense when doing personnel taxes increase the chance for a nurse to be audited and having to pay back the $ claimed. A VN last year had been audited and had to pay back $700.00

¯     Mileage rate is not tied to CA. If a sliding scale to be in place with CA the employer could remove a different benefit to cover costs of vehicle expense

¯     Mileage is tied to civil service rate.

¯     Suggest calling other unions to see what their mileage rates are paid to members. Call CUPE or MTS

¯     Suggest to call MLA offices to voice concerns

¯     Members willing to do the mileage tracking are Darlene Leier, Wendy Gainsborogh, Eileen MacDonell, Bernadette Chabot, Ursula Fukes, Marianne Medland

¯     Discussion ensued

Executive will make phone calls to other unions who pay mileage to members

Questions and Answers

¯     Back pay- no date has been set from HR as to when back pay will occur. Suggest for members to call TM as this is disrespectful towards our members

¯     Master Rotation- enquired if adjustment to master rotation in place. VN worked 8 shifts in a row and on 1sy day off TC from NRC why not at work. VN did not know scheduled to work a 9th shift as CA stipulates 7 shifts in a row max unless a Recognized holiday falls on a Monday with 2 days off. VN had gone to work

¯     There are no plans to change master rotation at present

¯     All areas are a mess for this posting presently up except for Point Douglas area

¯     Discussion ensued

Recommend to file a grievance as per article 1504 (e)

Adjournment of meeting

¯     Meeting adjourned at 1830
